Vinciane Despret, who wrote the text for the exhibition What the Fuck!, and Jean-Christophe Bailly, who has long been familiar with Sophie Ristelhueber’s work and has also written about the wildlife photographer George Shiras (1859-1942), rare vintage prints of whom are on display in the gallery’s graphic arts cabinet, will discuss the appearance of “the animal” in Sophie Ristelhueber’s work and, more generally, its place in contemporary debates.

The discussion will be followed by a book signing for Vinciane Despret’s most recent work, “Habiter en oiseau” (Actes Sud, 2019), “Les morts à l’œuvre” (La Découverte, 2023), and Jean-Christophe Bailly’s “Le versant animal” (Bayard, reprint, 2007).
