Sophie Ristelhueber, “Formes de la Ruine”

Sophie Ristelhueber plays a key role in this group show, with several important works along the way – WB (2005), Babylone (2016), Every One (1994), and Eleven Blowups (2006) – which develop the ideas of Alain Schnapp, archaeologist and historian, author of the important book “Une histoire universelle des ruines” (2020), from which the exhibition was conceived. The exhibition, which mixes primitive and contemporary art, takes on the air of a journey through ruins, or a dialogue between civilizations around four themes: memory and oblivion, the balance between nature and culture, the link between the material and the immaterial, and the tension between present and future.
